9 Bathroom Remodeling Trends for 2017

Trends tend to change from year-to-year, and interior design is no exception. If you're considering updating your bathroom next year, here are nine bathroom remodeling trends to consider.

Bathroom Remodeling Trends for 2017

1. Bathrooms That Feel Like Living Spaces

Foremost, homeowners want to begin and end their day in comfort. Create a soothing sanctuary where you can pamper both your body and mind. For this reason, furniture, televisions, and fireplaces are finding their way into bathrooms.

2. Smart Storage

Get the most from your available space by taking your bathroom cabinetry vertical. If built-in cabinets aren't an option, incorporate a piece of furniture you love. Additionally, open shelving, especially when it's incorporated into a bathroom vanity, is an attractive and practical option.

3. Bidets

Although bidets haven't been a big item in the United States in the past, now that many high-tech toilets come with the plumbing feature, bidets are slowly rising in popularity.

For example, our expert remodeling team installed the Numi toilet in Contemporary Bathroom Remodel (B-82). Numi by Kohler is the most advanced toilet ever designed.

4. Deluxe Showers

Luxury showers will continue to be in high demand in new homes and master bath remodels. For example, features such as spa-like body sprays, water jets, multiple showerheads, and fully enclosed steam showers are becoming more commonplace. Also, built-in benches and soap/shampoo niches are extra special elements.

5. Square Components

A stylish design trend is square shapes. You can incorporate angular elements with your showerheads, bathtub, sink, and faucets. Our team installed square products in Elegant Master Bathroom (B-86).

6. Ease of Use

The trend to design, build, and remodel for aging in place is leading the way for features such as comfort-height toilets, curbless (AKA no-threshold) showers, floating vanities, and side-mount faucets. Likewise, grab bars are another safety option that will continue to be popular.

7. High-tech upgrades

kohler-moxieMedia and music are becoming standard in the bathroom. For example, wireless speakers, Bluetooth® technology devices, and docking stations are in bathroom mirrors, showerheads, and vanities. If you're someone who enjoys singing in the shower, then you're going to love the Moxie showerhead by Kohler. This water-saving showerhead and speaker combo takes multitasking to a whole new level.

8. Freestanding Bathtubs

Built-in bathtubs have been declining in popularity. But for those who don’t want to give up their tubs, freestanding versions are the preferred option. In fact, some people are creating a combination tub/shower wet room.

9. In-Floor Heat and Towel Warmer

Homeowners are incorporating radiant heated floors and towel warmers in their bathroom renovations. Ceramic and porcelain tiles are popular in baths because they're easy to clean and work well with a floor heating system.

The workers are quick and efficient. They got the work done earlier than expected and did a good job cleaning up the work site afterwards. I am quite pleased with the end result.
